Broadway Photo complaint
This company is an internet bait and switch company and very aggressive on the phone. They advertised the lowest price to get me to place the order and then tried to sell me other items I did not want by sending me an email saying I needed to call them to confirm my order three days after I had originally placed the order. When I called to confirm, they told me the item I ordered had high glare and I needed other items added to my order to even be able to use the original item I ordered. After thinking better of this transaction within a couple of hours I decided to cancel order knowing that I had been scammed. When I called, they told me I had to talk to customer service but that they were currently closed and I would have to try back the next day. I explained that I wanted to cancel an order before it could be shipped. He claimed he was only an operator although all subsequent phone calls have uncovered no such operator. I then sent an email explaining my issue and that I wanted to cancel that order. Never got a response from that. Once I discovered how this company operated, I called back and I asked the person on the phone to cancel my order. He said I would still be required to pay a restocking fee even if I returned the item unopened. I said I would do that but didn't think I should have to pay a restocking fee since I didn't want the stuff the pushy salesmen talked me into. I told him I would even be willing to repurchase just the original item I had ordered to which he then replied, "I don't care where you buy your item". At this point, I ask to speak to someone above him and he replied that there was no one above him to talk to. Their customer service is unethical if not unavailable, unfriendly, and rigid. These salesmen and customer service are all the same people who are pushy, rude, evasive and not customer friendly. The web site is flawed and no receipt or itemized description of my order was ever available to me.

This same thing happened to me with techondigital.com. Both of these companies are promoted by everyprice.com They use the exact same tactics by requiring you to confirm the order and then they hard sell you upgrades and if you refuse the upgrades the original item mysteriously goes out of stock. I plan to flood their 800 # by inputing the 800 # at varies mortgage companies and car dealer websites requesting info from them. I am going to request these companies to fax info to the 800#. This should be fun...

This very same thing happened to me. I was attempting to buy a Nikon D40 body only since I already own a D80 with several good lenses and wanted to get my girlfriend a 'starter' DSLR so she can begin enjoying the experience of great picture taking.

Lo and behold, I get an email asking me to confirm my order and while doing so, I learn that the item I order is not the 'US version and switching to the US version would cost me another $100. On top of that, the camera has no accessories (batteries, cables, manuals, etc!!) which is very improbable because that is not how Nikon packages anything - even outside the US (I know because I have lived in several countries both developed and developing). Anyway, what started off as a routine $300 purchase turned into a $799 nightmare at which point I stated I was not interested any more...before I could say another word, the phone was dead! So I wondered whether there was closure or not since the rude fellow just grunted and hissed before hanging up (figuring he was not convincing me much with his BS). I immediately called American Express and told them to call me if charges posted from Broadway Photos because they have been known to cancel an order and still charge for the item hoping you never catch on to it (those of us who pay credit card bills without checking to see the details as long as the amounts fit a range we are accustomed to - I was guilty of this in the past).

STAY AWAY. The advertized deal is NOT WORTH IT!!
